The Saffron Walden Childrens' Orchestra (SWCO) is a training orchestra for young musicians living in and around Uttlesforde. We welcome all young orchestral instrumentalists who are playing to a standard of grade 1 to 5 and who want to have fun learning how to play in an orchestra.

Our courses help children to develop as musicians and to enjoy learning how to play with others in a large ensemble. We usually play some classical as well as light repertoire. Children also work together with section coaches, and then on the final day all join together to perform as an orchestra. Our gallery has some recent images of the childrens' orchestra.

We are delighted to announce our summer 2017 course: July 25 - 28, 2017, 9.30am-3.30pm, taking place at the Saffron Walden County High School. The course will include 4 whole days of orchestral playing, with workshops in singing and drumming, supervised lunch and playtime. The cost is £120 per child, with a second sibling discount of 50%, and financial assistance available to those eligible for free school meals. An end of course concert will be held in the Saffron Hall.

If you would like to book a place on our summer course, please fill out a copy of our Summer 2017 application form and send this to our SWCO administrator

We welcome any feedback on the courses we run.
